Kibbutz Reshit is an urban kibbutz founded in 1979 by 23 families who moved specifically to the Kiryat Menahcem/Ir Ganim neighborhood to renew the area. The kibbutz members work with community and municipal authorities, schools and families to improve education and the larger social fabric. The kibbutz operates a school, kindergartens and an afterschool center, and offers Hebrew classes for recent immigrants, youth programs and more. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported Jewish heritage workshops for students and parents, an outreach program for at-risk youth and an educational greenhouse project. It also has supported its kindergartens at 5 and 16 Hanurit Street.
